Curriculum & Instruction
Robert Treat Academy Charter School works hard to surpass the academic guidelines established by the New Jersey Department of Education by providing a challenging and engaging curriculum for our students.
Robert Treat Academy follows the New Jersey Student Learning Standards (NJSLS). The Academy's Board of Trustees annually adopts the curriculum including any additions or changes.
Periodic assessments allow teachers, students and parents to see where individuals are in reaching and/or exceeding Academy Standards. The measures will determine whether the student has successfully achieved grade level standards. The results of these measures will enable teachers to teach to your child's individual needs and strengths. Copies of the State content Standards can be accessed at the links provided below.
New Jersey has defined what its children need to know and be able to do in ten content areas: mathematics, language arts literacy (including reading and writing), science, social studies, visual and performing arts, comprehensive health and physical education, technology, foreign language, and career education and consumer, family and life skills. State-sponsored professional development for implementing these articulated content standards targets leadership teams from counties, districts, and/or schools.
The state of New Jersey has instituted standardized tests correlated to the NJSLS to ensure compliance with these guidelines and assess whether schools are meeting these goals.
